A bit about the role
This role is a terrific opportunity for a creative, innovative, and organised individual with a proven track record who is passionate about turning ideas into great events and programs for young people. The focus of the Education and Youth role involves designing and delivering programming for older children and youth, to support learning, a love of reading, and social connection. Current programs delivered by the Education and Youth Team cover the areas of arts, chess, robotics, book clubs, literacy support, reading competitions, volunteering, study support, and vocational development.
A key focus of the Education and Youth Librarian role involves consulting and collaborating with children and young adults to ensure their needs and interests are reflected in the programs and services offered, as well as building and maintaining partnerships with internal council partners, local schools, and community organisations.
The Education and Youth Librarian is also responsible for managing one of the library’s Young Adult (YA) collections, which include graphic novels, YA Fiction, and study and education resources for secondary students and promoting the collections via a range of channels.
In addition to the duties above, you will be rostered for regular customer service shifts and work on a variety of projects at your home library branch.

This position has a weekly late finish at 8pm on Thursdays and requires working a Saturday morning customer service shift once every six weeks. Some events and programs will require occasional evening or weekend work and a willingness to vary your schedule from time-to-time is essential.
