The position

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated School Librarian to join our team and inspire our students to explore the world of literature and information.  This position is full time, ongoing commencing January 2025.

Reporting to the Head of Mandeville Learning Centre, the Librarian plays a crucial role in fostering a love for reading and learning among students and staff.  The position will assist in overseeing the day to day operations of the Preparatory to Year 12 libraries including cataloguing, circulation, returns, shelving of resources and stocktaking, responding to reference and research enquiries, supervision of students and general maintenance of the Library environment.

The Librarian will create a welcoming environment that encourages exploration, research, and the development of information literacy skills. By collaborating with teachers and staff, the Librarian will integrate library resources into the curriculum, support student learning, and promote a culture of reading and lifelong learning.

About You

The successful candidate will have experience working as a Librarian within an educational setting, ideally with primary and/or secondary students and have an excellent knowledge of curriculum, pedagogy and resources.  You will hold a relevant library degree qualification and a current WWCC (Employee).  Your strong organisational and communication skills coupled with a passion for promoting reading and information literacy among students will be critical to your success in the role.  Familiarity with library management software and digital resources will be essential.  

Importantly you will have flexibility to work a variable workday including 7am starts and 7pm finishes on a rostered basis to facilitate the operational needs of the Mandeville Learning Centre.
