The Role

MLC Libraries are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Library Technician to join our team for Term 2 & Term 3 as a long service leave cover. This role will focus on acquisitions, ensuring the efficient procurement of print materials while maintaining strong relationships with vendors and stakeholders.
  
Some of your primary duties and responsibilities will include the following:
• Process requests, order, and receive library materials.
• Use the library management system for acquisitions and copy cataloguing (OCLC’s WorldShare).
• Aid in the implementation of EDIFACT for electronic ordering and invoicing.
• Monitor the acquisitions budget and generate reports on acquisitions activities and expenditures.
• Work with library staff and stakeholders to meet collection needs.

About You

  • Completion of a diploma or post-secondary qualification in Library and Information Services (ALIA membership eligibility).
    • Experience using acquisitions and cataloguing modules in a library management system (OCLC’s WorldShare preferred).
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage procurement processes efficiently.
    • Knowledge of budgeting and reporting for acquisitions.
    • A current Working with Children Check and Police Check.
    • Be open to ideas, strive for excellence, and demonstrate a high level of integrity.
