Library Assistant - Senior Schools & Newlands 

Haileybury is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our Library team in a part-time (0.34 FTE), ongoing position. This position operates on a term-time only basis and spans across two libraries at our Keysborough site. The primary focus of the role is to support the library team in the smooth running of the library including after-school study supervision of students in Years 5 to 8 (Newlands) and Years 9 to 12 (Senior School).  

Days/Hours are: 

  • Monday or Tuesday 1.00pm – 5.30pm (Senior School)
  • Wednesday 1.00pm – 4.00pm (Senior School)
  • Wednesday 4.00pm – 6.00pm (Newlands)
  • Thursday 4.00pm – 6.00pm (Newlands)
  • Friday 4.00pm - 6.00pm (Newlands) 

Key responsibilities  

The Library Assistant will primarily be responsible for: 

  • Supervising students in the library after school, ensuring sign-in/sign-out, assisting with homework, and encouraging quiet activities like reading or chess.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming environment, completing tasks such as shelving books, tidying the library, and handling library equipment.
  • Complete end-of-day closing duties, including locking up, ensuring equipment readiness, and handing over tasks to the Library Assistant. 

While the primary responsibilities of the position are articulated, it is expected that the incumbent will engage with the School community and participate fully in a range of events and activities.
